دعا الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب إيران إلى التوصل لاتفاق قبيل المحادثات المرتقبة بين المسؤولين الأمريكيين والإيرانيين، محذرا من أن فشل المفاوضات سيكون يوما سيئا للغاية بالنسبة لطهران.

وأكد ترمب في تدوينة على منصة "تروث سوشيال" أنه صاحب القرار النهائي في هذا الملف ويفضل التوصل لاتفاق سلمي، نافيا الأخبار التي زعمت بأن الجنرال دانيال كين عارض أي مواجهة عسكرية مع إيران.

وأوضح أن الجنرال كين كغيره، لا يرغب في الحرب لكنه يرى النصر سهلا إذا تم اتخاذ قرار مواجهة عسكرية.

وأشار ترامب إلى أن "كل ما نشر عن احتمال اندلاع حرب مع إيران كان خاطئا"، مشددا على أن البرنامج النووي الإيراني لم يعد قيد التطوير وتم تدميره بالكامل بواسطة قاذفات B-2 العملاقة.
