قال ممثل قطاع المحيكات في غرفة صناعة الأردن إيهاب القادري، السبت، إن صادرات القطاع تجاوزت 2 مليار دولار خلال العام الماضي، مشيرا إلى أن الإحصائية الرسمية لم تصدر بعد.

وأوضح القادري، أن أكثر من 75% من الصادرات تذهب إلى الولايات المتحدة.

وكان الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب أعلن، زيادة التعرفة الجمركية الشاملة الجديدة من 10 إلى 15% "بأثر فوري"، بعد أن أبطلت المحكمة العليا في اليوم السابق قسما كبيرا من الرسوم التي فرضها منذ عودته للرئاسة.

وقال ترامب على منصته الاجتماعية تروث سوشال إنه بعد مراجعة شاملة لقرار المحكمة الذي وصفه بأنه "معادٍ لأميركا للغاية"، قرر رفع رسوم الاستيراد "إلى المستوى المسموح به بالكامل، والذي تم اختباره قانونيا، وهو 15%".
