عاد مسلسل عائلة سيمبسون للواجهة بعد تداول حلقة من عام 2000 أثارت جدلاً بسبب تشابهها مع قضية Jeffrey Epstein.

وفي الحلقة بعنوان "الكمبيوتر ارتدى حذاء التهديد"، يطلق هومر سيمبسون مدونة باسم "السيد أكس" لنشر إشاعات عن الأشخاص النافذين، قبل أن يُختطف ويُنقل إلى جزيرة غامضة يُقال إنها مأوى لمن "يديرون العالم سراً". بعد فراره، يعود ليكتب عن المؤامرة، وهو ما شبّه المعجبون بما كشفته تحقيقات إبستين حول استغلال الفتيات وعلاقاته بالشخصيات النافذة.

عاد الاهتمام بالحلقة بعد ورود اسم مبتكر المسلسل Matt Groening في وثائق قضائية مرتبطة بإبستين، رغم عدم توجيه أي اتهامات مباشرة له. وقد أعاد ذلك النقاش حول قدرة المسلسل على "التنبؤ" بأحداث واقعية، كما حدث سابقاً مع رئاسة Donald Trump والساعات الذكية.
