ويتكوف يزور حاملة الطائرات الأميركية في الشرق الأوسط

أعلن ستيف ويتكوف الذي يقود الوفد الأميركي المفاوض مع إيران، السبت أنه زار حاملة الطائرات التي أرسلها الرئيس دونالد ترامب إلى الشرق الأوسط عقب تهديده بتدخل عسكري ضد الجمهورية الإسلامية، قبيل جولة ثانية مرتقبة من المباحثات بين واشنطن وطهران.

وقال ويتكوف في منشور على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي: "التقيت اليوم، أنا والأدميرال براد كوبر قائد القيادة المركزية... وجاريد كوشنر (صهر ترامب)، بالبحارة ومشاة البحرية الشجعان على متن يو إس إس أبراهام لينكولن، ومجموعتها الضاربة... الذين يحافظون على أمننا ويدعمون رسالة الرئيس ترامب للسلام من خلال القوة".

وأجرى وفدا واشنطن وطهران مباحثات الجمعة في مسقط. وأعرب وزير الخارجية الإيراني عباس عراقجي السبت عن أمله بأن تستأنف المفاوضات قريبا.
