ذكرت قناة برس تي.في الإيرانية الحكومية الخميس أن "أحد أكثر الصواريخ الباليستية بعيدة المدى تطورا في البلاد، وهو خرمشهر 4"، تم نشره في إحدى مدن الصواريخ تحت الأرض التابعة للقوة الجوفضائية بالحرس الثوري.

وأضافت أن مدى خرمشهر 4 يبلغ 2000 كيلومتر وقادر على حمل رأس حربي يزن 1500 كيلوجرام.

وقالت وسائل إعلام إيرانية رسمية إن "النشر العملياتي لخرمشهر 4 في مدن الصواريخ يوم الأربعاء يتزامن مع التحول المعلن في عقيدة القوات المسلحة من الدفاعية إلى الهجوم، ويحمل رسالة واضحة إلى الخصوم في المنطقة وخارجها".
