قال مسؤول في البيت الأبيض، إنّ المبعوث الأميركي الخاص، ستيف ويتكوف، سيزور إسرائيل الثلاثاء، وسيلتقي مع رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو في ظل تصاعد التوتر مع إيران.

ويأتي ذلك في الوقت الذي تمضي فيه إدارة الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب قدما في تنفيذ خطتها لإنهاء حرب غزة.

وسائل إعلام إسرائيلية، أشارت إلى أن ويتكوف سيصل الثلاثاء إلى إسرائيل. وسبق لويتكوف وصهر ترامب جاريد كوشنر أن التقيا رئيس الوزراء في 24 كانون الثاني للدفع في اتجاه فتح معبر رفح بحسب ما نصّ عليه اتفاق وقف إطلاق النار الذي أبرم بوساطة من الرئيس الأميركي.
