ارتفعت أسعار النفط لليوم الثالث على التوالي الخميس مع تصاعد المخاوف من أن الولايات المتحدة قد تشن هجوما عسكريا على إيران، أحد أكبر منتجي النفط في الشرق الأوسط، مما قد يؤدي إلى اضطراب الإمدادات من المنطقة.

بحلول الساعة 02:16 بتوقيت غرينتش، صعدت العقود الآجلة لخام برنت 50 سنتا، أو 0.73%، لتصل إلى 68.9 دولارا للبرميل. وزاد خام غرب تكساس الوسيط الأميركي 58 سنتا، أو 0.92% إلى 63.79 دولارا للبرميل.

وارتفع كلا الخامين بقرابة 5% منذ 26 كانون الثاني، وبلغا أعلى مستوى لهما منذ 29 أيلول.

وترتفع الأسعار مع زيادة الضغط الذي يمارسه الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب على إيران لإنهاء برنامجها النووي وذلك بتهديدات بشن ضربات عسكرية وبوصول سفن حربية أميركية إلى المنطقة. وإيران هي رابع أكبر منتج في منظمة البلدان المصدرة للبترول (أوبك) بإنتاج يبلغ 3.2 مليون برميل يوميا.
