أعلن البنتاغون الجمعة في استراتيجيته الدفاعية الجديدة، أن الجيش الأميركي سيعطي الأولوية للأمن الداخلي وردع الصين، مع تقديم دعم "أكثر محدودية" لحلفائه في أوروبا وغيرها.

وجاء في استراتيجية الدفاع الوطني لعام 2026 الصادرة عن البنتاغون "بينما تركز القوات الأميركية على الدفاع عن أرضها ومنطقة المحيطين الهندي والهادئ، سيتحمل حلفاؤنا وشركاؤنا مسؤولية الدفاع عن أنفسهم، مع دعم أساسي ولكن أكثر محدودية من القوات الأميركية".
