خسر المنتخب الوطني أمام نظيره الفيتنامي بهدفين دون رد في مستهل مشاركته ببطولة كأس آسيا تحت ثلاثة وعشرين عامًا.

وكان المنتخب الوطني لكرة القدم تحت 23، التقى الثلاثاء، نظيره الفيتنامي على الملعب الرديف لستاد مدينة الملك عبدالله الرياضية بجدة، في افتتاح منافسات المجموعة الأولى بكأس آسيا.

وأجرى المنتخب مرانه الاثنين، على ملعب نادي جدة، بقيادة المدرب عمر نجحي، حيث ركزت التدريبات على بعض الجمل الفنية.

وحسب نظام البطولة، تم تقسيم المنتخبات الـ16 المشاركة في البطولة على أربع مجموعات، بحيث تضم كل مجموعة أربعة أفرقة، تتنافس بنظام الدوري المجزأ من مرحلة واحدة، على أن يتأهل أول فريقين من كل مجموعة إلى الدور ربع النهائي.
