تخطط إدارة الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب لتعيين جنرال أميركي لقيادة قوة الاستقرار الدولية في غزة، وفقًا لما ذكره موقع "أكسيوس" عن مسؤولين أميركيين وإسرائيليين.

وأشار الموقع إلى أن "هذا التعيين سيؤدي إلى زيادة مسؤولية الولايات المتحدة في تأمين وإعادة بناء غزة، التي تتحول إلى أكبر مشروع سياسي مدني-عسكري أميركي في الشرق الأوسط منذ أكثر من عقدين".

وقال ترامب، الأربعاء إنه من المتوقع أن يُعلَن مطلع العام المقبل عن أسماء قادة العالم الذين سيشاركون في مجلس السلام في غزة.

وأوضح ترامب للصحفيين خلال فعالية اقتصادية في قاعة روزفلت بالبيت الأبيض أن عددا من القادة يرغبون في الانضمام إلى المجلس، الذي أُنشئ بموجب خطة غزة التي جرى التوصل بموجبها إلى اتفاق لوقف إطلاق النار بين حركة حماس وإسرائيل.
