أصدرت الجريدة الرسمية في الكويت مرسوماً يقضي بسحب الجنسية من الداعية طارق السويدان.

المرسوم الذي وقعه أمير البلاد الشيخ مشعل الأحمد الصباح، جاء بناءً على عرض النائب الأول لرئيس مجلس الوزراء ووزير الداخلية وموافقة مجلس الوزراء.

ينص المرسوم على سحب الجنسية الكويتية من طارق محمد الصالح السويدان ومن اكتسبها معه بطريقة التبعية.

لم يحدد المرسوم المادة القانونية التي استند عليها في سحب الجنسية، لكن الكويت سبق وأن أعلنت أن سحب الجنسية يتم في حالات مثل الغش أو ارتكاب جرائم.
