رفض الرئيس الإسرائيلي إسحاق هرتسوغ دعوات الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب للعفو عن رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو، الذي يواجه اتهامات بالفساد، وذلك في تصريحات للموقع الإخباري الأميركي "بوليتيكو" نشرت يوم السبت.

وقال هرتسوغ: "أحترم صداقة الرئيس ترامب ورأيه"، وأشاد بدور ترامب في تأمين إطلاق سراح المحتجزين من قطاع غزة. ومع ذلك، أكد أن إسرائيل دولة ذات سيادة ويجب احترام نظامها القانوني بالكامل.

ويحاكم نتنياهو منذ أكثر من 5 سنوات، بتهم الاحتيال وخيانة الأمانة والرشوة. وحث ترامب هرتسوغ مرارا على منح نتنياهو عفوا، بما في ذلك في رسالة حديثة موقعة منه ونشرها مكتب هرتسوغ.

وجاء في الرسالة أن ترامب يحترم استقلال القضاء الإسرائيلي، ولكنه يعتقد أن التهم الموجهة إلى نتنياهو ذات دوافع سياسية.
