أمر الرئيس النيجيري بولا تينوبو الأحد بتجنبد عشرات الآلاف من عناصر الشرطة وسحب الحراس الشخصيين من السياسيين وتكليفهم بمهام شرطية جديدة، بسبب الأزمة الأمنية التي تشهدها البلاد.

ويواجه الرئيس تينوبو ضغوطا بعد خطف نحو 400 شخص، غالبيتهم من تلامذة المدارس.

فحكومة تينوبو تخضع لتدقيق شديد منذ أن هدد الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب هذا الشهر بعمل عسكري ضد نيجيريا ردا على ما وصفه بمقتل مسيحيين هناك على يد متطرفين.

وأفاد بيان عن الرئاسة أن تينوبو "أمر بسحب رجال الشرطة الذين يوفرون حاليا الحماية للشخصيات الهامة جدا"، مضيفا أن "أجزاء كثيرة من نيجيريا" لا تتمتع بأمن كاف.

وأضاف البيان أن تينوبو وافق أيضا على تجنيد 30 ألف شرطي إضافي.
