أعلن وزير الخارجية الأميركي ماركو روبيو الأحد أن الولايات المتحدة تخطط لتصنيف عصابة مخدرات يُزعم أن الرئيس الفنزويلي نيكولاس مادورو يقودها، "منظمة إرهابية أجنبية"، في ظل تصاعد التوتر بين البلدين،

وقال روبيو في بيان إن "كارتل دي لوس سوليس بالتعاون مع كارتلات أجنبية أخرى مصنفة إرهابية بينها ترين دي أراغوا وكارتل سينالوا، مسؤول عن أعمال عنف إرهابية في جميع أنحاء النصف الغربي للكرة الأرضية، بالإضافة إلى تهريب المخدرات إلى الولايات المتحدة وأوروبا".
