قالت جولي كوزاك المتحدثة باسم صندوق النقد الدولي الخميس، إن الصندوق أرسل بعثة من الخبراء إلى دمشق هذا الأسبوع للقاء السلطات السورية ومناقشة أولويات الإصلاح الاقتصادي واحتياجات المساعدة الفنية.

وأضافت كوزاك أن الخطوة التالية ستكون إجراء المزيد من المناقشات حول كيفية تمهيد الطريق لإجراء مراجعة "المادة الرابعة" لاقتصاد البلاد، والتي ستكون الأولى منذ عام 2009.

وأضافت للصحفيين أن المديرة العامة لصندوق النقد الدولي كريستالينا جورجيفا التقت بالرئيس السوري أحمد الشرع الأسبوع الماضي وأجريا مناقشات ركزت على التحديات الاقتصادية التي تواجهها سوريا، وكيف يمكن للصندوق مواصلة دعم البلاد من خلال تقديم المشورة السياسية في إطار إعادة بناء مصرفها المركزي ومؤسساتها الاقتصادية الأخرى.
