ثلاثة قتلى في غرق قارب مهاجرين في اليونان

لقي ثلاثة أشخاص على الأقل حتفهم عندما غرق قارب يحمل مهاجرين جنوب جزيرة كريت، وفق ما أعلن خفر السواحل اليونانيون الثلاثاء.

وقالت ناطقة باسم خفر السواحل اليونانيين لوكالة فرانس برس إن الحادثة وقعت وسط رياح شديدة قرب جزيرة غافدوس الصغيرة جنوب جزيرة كريت.

وأضافت أن سفينة تابعة لوكالة فرونتكس التابعة للاتحاد الأوروبي أنقذت 56 شخصا "انقلب قاربهم على ما يبدو، وعثرت على ثلاث جثث"، مشيرة إلى بدء عملية البحث عن أشخاص آخرين.

وتقع غافدوس على طريق الهجرة الذي يستخدمه المهربون الذين يعملون انطلاقا من الموانئ الليبية.

وتم اعتراض قارب آخر على متنه 28 شخصا في المنطقة نفسها الاثنين.

وتشير تقديرات مفوضية الأمم المتحدة لشؤون اللاجئين إلى أن أكثر من 1700 شخص قضوا أو فقدوا على طرق الهجرة عبر البحر الأبيض المتوسط وغرب إفريقيا هذا العام.
