دعا وكيل وزارة الخزانة الأميركية لشؤون الإرهاب والاستخبارات المالية جون هيرلي من بيروت الإثنين، اللبنانيين الى "إنهاء نفوذ إيران الخبيث" عبر حزب الله، مؤكدا أن بلاده "جادة للغاية" في قطع مصادر تمويل الحزب من داعمته طهران.

وفي مقابلة مع ثلاث وسائل إعلام بينها وكالة فرانس برس في مقر السفارة الأميركية، قال هيرلي بعيد لقائه مسؤولين لبنانيين "نعتقد أن مفتاح استعادة الشعب اللبناني لبلده يكمن في إنهاء النفوذ الإيراني الخبيث من خلال حزب الله"، مؤكدا أن الإدارة الأميركية الحالية "جادة للغاية في قطع تمويل إيران" التي تقدر الخزانة نقلها أكثر من مليار دولار منذ مطلع العام الى الحزب.
