أفاد "تشاديما"، حزب المعارضة الرئيسي في تنزانيا، وكالة فرانس برس الجمعة، بأن "نحو 700" شخص قتلوا خلال ثلاثة أيام من الاحتجاجات على الانتخابات.

وقال المتحدث باسم الحزب جون كيتوكا إن محتجين كانوا يتظاهرون وسط مدينة دار السلام، العاصمة الاقتصادية. وأوضح "حتى الآن، بلغ عدد القتلى في دار السلام نحو 350 قتيلا، وفي موانزا أكثر من 200 قتيل. وبإضافة ذلك إلى أعداد القتلى من مناطق أخرى في البلاد، يبلغ العدد الإجمالي نحو 700 قتيل". وأفاد أمني فرانس برس بأن في حوزة السلطات معطيات عن أعداد مماثلة.
