أبلغ وزير الدفاع الصيني دونغ جون نظيره الأميركي بيت هيغسيث بضرورة أن يرسي البلدان "ثقة" متبادلة، وذلك خلال مباحثات أجرياها في ماليزيا الجمعة.

وأوردت وزارة الدفاع الصينية في بيان عن اللقاء أن دونغ قال لهيغسيث إن على الطرفين أن "يعززا الثقة ويبددا عدم اليقين"، داعيا الى أن "يستكشف الجيشان السبيل الصحيح للتفاهم"، وذلك غداة قمة بين الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب ونظيره الصيني شي جينبينغ في كوريا الجنوبية.
