يأمل الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم (فيفا) أن تكون كلٌّ من المدن الست عشرة المضيفة جاهزة لاستضافة مباريات كأس العالم 2026 في الولايات المتحدة والمكسيك وكندا، حسبما صرّح متحدث باسم الاتحاد الدولي لوكالة فرانس برس الأربعاء.

وأضاف الاتحاد الدولي بعد تصريح الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب بإمكانية نقل مباريات مونديال 2026 المبرمجة في الولايات المتحدة في حال وجود "مشكلة أمنية": "السلامة والأمن هما بلا شك مسؤولية الحكومات التي تقرر ما هو في مصلحة السلامة العامة".
