أكد الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب أن نظيره المصري عبد الفتاح السيسي أدى "دورا بالغ الأهمية" في المفاوضات التي سبقت إعلان وقف إطلاق النار بين إسرائيل وحماس في قطاع غزة.

وأضاف ترامب أثناء لقاء جمعه بالسيسي في شرم الشيخ الإثنين قبيل انطلاق القمة حول غزة أن الدور الذي أدته مصر كان "فعالا لأن حماس تحترم هذه الدولة وتحترم القيادة المصرية".
