قال الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب الأحد إن الولايات المتحدة "تريد مساعدة الصين وليس إلحاق الأذى بها" في لهجة توفيقية، بعد أيام على تهديده بفرض رسوم جمركية إضافية بنسبة 100 % على بكين.

وكتب ترامب على منصته للتواصل الاجتماعي "تروث سوشال"، الولايات المتحدة تريد مساعدة الصين وليس إلحاق الأذى بها" مضيفا "احترم الرئيس شي (جيبينغ) .. لا أريد أن تعاني بلاده كسادا".

وقال ترامب الجمعة إنه قد يلجأ إلى فرض رسوم جمركية إضافية على ثاني اقتصاد عالمي اعتبارا من الأول من تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر ردا على ما أسماه قيودا صينية جديدة "عدوانية للغاية" على الصادرات المتعلقة بالمعادن النادرة.
