أعرب بابا الفاتيكان عن أمنياته بأن يشكل اتفاق وقف إطلاق النار في غزة بداية لمسيرة تقود نحو سلام عادل ودائم يحترم تطلعات الشعبين الفلسطيني الإسرائيلي.

وأضاف البابا في كلمته عقب الصلاة اليوم الأحد، إن الاتفاق يعني بداية مسيرة السلام في الأرض المقدسة، داعياً جميع الأطراف المعنية إلى مواصلة هذه المسيرة نحو سلام عادل ودائم يحترم التطلعات المشروعة للشعبين الفلسطيني والإسرائيلي على حد سواء بعد حرب تركت وراءها الموت والدمار في كل مكان.
