رحّب الأمين العام للأمم المتّحدة أنطونيو غوتيريش الأربعاء بالاتّفاق الذي أعلن الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب أنّ إسرائيل وحماس توصّلتا إليه لتنفيذ المرحلة الأولى من خطته للسلام في غزة، داعيا جميع الأطراف المعنية إلى "احترام بنوده بالكامل".

وقال غوتيريش في بيان "يجب إطلاق سراح جميع الرهائن بصورة كريمة. يجب التوصّل إلى اتفاق لوقف إطلاق نار دائم. يجب أن يتوقف القتال نهائيا... يجب أن تنتهي المعاناة"، مؤكّدا أنّ الأمم المتّحدة مستعدّة لزيادة إمدادات المساعدات الإنسانية وللمشاركة في إعادة إعمار القطاع الفلسطيني المدمّر.
