قال وزير الخارجية الأميركي، مارك روبيو، إن حركة حماس، وافقت من حيث المبدأ على ما سيحدث بعد الحرب.

وأضاف "اجتماعات تجري بشأن اتفاق إسرائيل وحماس".

وأردف "نأمل في الانتهاء من الأمور اللوجستية المتعلقة بذلك بسرعة كبيرة".

وعند سؤاله عما إذا كانت هذه هي نهاية حرب غزة، قال إنه "ليس بعد إذ لا يزال هناك بعض العمل الذي يتعين القيام به".

وتابع روبيو "المرحلة الثانية وهي مرحلة نزع السلاح والانسحاب فلن تكون سهلة".

وعندما سُئل عما إذا كان يتوقع إطلاق سراح المحتجزين هذا الأسبوع، "نريد إطلاق سراحهم في أقرب وقت ممكن". وأتبع "سنعرف سريعا ما إذا كانت حماس جادة أم لا".
