أُعيد تفعيل عقوبات الأمم المتحدة على إيران مساء السبت بعد انقضاء مهلة "آلية الزناد" التي أطلقتها باريس ولندن وبرلين في نهاية آب لعدم وفاء طهران بالتزاماتها المتعلقة ببرنامجها النووي.

وعقب موافقة مجلس الأمن الدولي وفشل روسيا والصين الجمعة في تمديد المهلة النهائية، دخلت عقوبات قاسية تراوح بين حظر الأسلحة وتدابير اقتصادية، حيز التنفيذ تلقائيا الساعة الثامنة مساء بتوقيت نيويورك السبت (12,00 بتوقيت غرينتش الأحد)، بعد عشر سنوات من رفعها.
