أعلنت وزراة الصحة المصرية، في بيان، أن حريقا اندلع صباح الجمعة، في مصنع ملابس بمركز المحلة الكبرى في محافظة الغربية شمالي القاهرة مما أسفر عن وفاة 8 وإصابة 35.

وقال مصدران أمنيان لرويترز إن الحريق كان نتيجة ماس كهربائي تسبب في اندلاع النيران وانفجار غلاية بالدور الأول العلوي، وأدى ذلك لانهيار جزء من المبنى.

وجاء في بيان وزارة الصحة أنه تم إرسال "26 سيارة إسعاف مجهزة طبيا إلى موقع الحريق... فرق الإسعاف تمكنت من نقل 35 مصابا إلى مستشفى المحلة العام، حيث يتلقون الرعاية الطبية اللازمة تحت إشراف فرق طبية متخصصة".

وأشار البيان إلى أن قوات الدفاع المدني تواصل عمليات الإنقاذ ورفع الأنقاض بحثا "عن أي مصابين إضافيين أو ضحايا، مع التنسيق الكامل بين الجهات المعنية لضمان سلامة الجميع".

ولم يوضح البيان سبب اندلاع الحريق. وأشارت وسائل إعلام محلية إلى أنه تمت السيطرة الكاملة على الحريق.
