فشل مسعى روسي وصيني لتأجيل إعادة فرض عقوبات الأمم المتحدة على إيران الجمعة في مجلس الأمن الدولي المكون من 15 دولة عضوا، وذلك بعد أن صوتت أربع دول فقط لصالح مشروع القرار الذي تقدم به البلدان.

وصوتت تسع دول بالرفض، في حين امتنعت دولتان عن التصويت.

ومن المقرر إعادة فرض جميع عقوبات الأمم المتحدة على إيران في تمام الساعة الثامنة من مساء غد السبت بتوقيت شرق الولايات المتحدة (0000 بتوقيت غرينتش) بعد أن اتهمت فرنسا وألمانيا وبريطانيا، المعروفة باسم الترويكا الأوروبية، طهران بانتهاك اتفاق عام 2015 الذي يهدف إلى منعها من تصنيع قنبلة نووية.

وتنفي إيران سعيها لامتلاك أسلحة نووية.
