وقع الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب الجمعة إعلانا يتطلب رسوما سنوية جديدة قدرها 100 ألف دولار لطلبات الحصول على تأشيرة "إتش- 1 بي"، ضمن تغييرات أخرى على برنامج العمال الأجانب ذوي المهارات العالية الذي خضع للتدقيق من جانب الإدارة.

وتستهدف تأشيرات "إتش- 1 بي" جلب أفضل وألمع الأجانب للوظائف التي تتطلب مهارات عالية تجد شركات التكنولوجيا صعوبة في ملئها بالمواطنين الأميركيين المؤهلين والمقيمين الدائمين.

وبدلا من ذلك، تحوّل البرنامج إلى وسيلة لقدوم عمال أجانب غالبا ما يكونون على استعداد للعمل مقابل أقل من 60 ألف دولار سنويا.
