أكد وزير الخارجية الروسي سيرغي لافروف، أن موسكو منفتحة على مواصلة المشاورات مع واشنطن بشأن الأزمة الأوكرانية، لافتًا أنّ الحل الدبلوماسي للحرب مع أوكرانيا لا يزال ممكنًا إذا تم مراعاة مصالح روسيا الأمنية.

وقال لافروف خلال مؤتمر صحفي:" إن أي اتصالات مستقبلية يجب أن تبنى على الواقع الميداني وعلى الاعتراف بمصالح روسيا الوطنية، أن الحل الدبلوماسي للحرب مع أوكرانيا لا يزال ممكنًا إذا أبدت الولايات المتحدة والغرب استعدادًا حقيقيًا للتفاوض، موسكو مستعدة لاستخدام القنوات الدبلوماسية القائمة، لكنها في الوقت نفسه مستعدة لمواصلة الدفاع عن موقفها في حال استمرار الضغوط".
