قال المُثقِّف الصحي في مركز الحسين للسرطان محمد عباس، إن الأردن يسجل قرابة 10 آلاف إصابة بالسرطان سنويا.

وبين عباس، خلال محاضرة بعنوان "بيئة صحية ضد السرطان" في جرش، أن المركز يعمل وفق استراتيجية تقوم على 3 محاور: المحور الأول الوقاية وتقوم على اتباع نمط حياة صحي، والمحور الثاني الكشف المبكر، والمحور الثالث تأمين رعاية.

وأوضح أن العمل يجري على دراسة لتوحيد البروتوكول علاج مرضى السرطان بالمستشفيات العسكرية والحكومية مع البروتوكول المتبع في مركز الحسين للسرطان في ظل اتفاقية الحكومة الخاصة بتأمين رعاية.

وكشف عباس بأن التدخين (السجائر، الفيب، الأرجلة) يرتبط بقرابة 20 نوع من السرطان، موضحا أن إحصائية كشفت أن متوسط عمر المدخنين هم فئة الشباب بعمر الـ 17 عاما من فئة الذكور وعمر الـ 24 عاما من فئة الإناث.
