دعا وزير الخارجية الصيني وانغ يي الولايات المتحدة إلى توخي الحذر في تصريحاتها وأفعالها المتعلقة بتايوان، مؤكداً أن هذه القضية تمس "المصالح الجوهرية" لبكين.

وقال وانغ يي، في اتصال هاتفي مع وزير الخارجية الأمريكي ماركو روبيو، إن "الولايات المتحدة يجب أن تتحلى بالحيطة، وخاصة في القضايا التي تمس المصالح الأساسية للصين مثل تايوان".

وأضاف أن التصريحات والإجراءات الأمريكية الأخيرة "ألحقت الضرر بحقوق الصين ومصالحها المشروعة، وتمثل تدخلاً في شؤونها الداخلية، ولا تساهم في تحسين العلاقات الصينية–الأمريكية".
