قال الرئيس الفنزويلي نيكولاس مادورو، الجمعة، إن الخلافات مع الولايات المتحدة لا ينبغي أن تؤدي إلى صراع عسكري، وذلك ردا على تهديد الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب بإسقاط طائرات كراكاس العسكرية إذا شكلت تهديدا لقواته.

وصرح مادورو في رسالة بثت عبر منصات الإعلام في البلاد: "لا ينبغي أن يؤدي أي خلاف مع الولايات المتحدة إلى صراع عسكري. لا مبرر له".

وكان ترامب هدد كراكاس بأن طائراتها العسكرية ستسقط إذا شكلت تهديدا للقوات الأميركية، مع إعلان واشنطن إرسال 10 مقاتلات "إف 35" إلى بورتوريكو في إطار حرب الرئيس الجمهوري على عصابات المخدرات.
