أعلنت الحكومة اللبنانية الجمعة أن الجيش سيبدأ بتنفيذ خطة نزع سلاح حزب الله وفق إمكاناته "المحدودة"، وذلك في ختام جلسة خصّصت لمناقشة هذه القضية الشائكة، انسحب منها الوزراء المحسوبون على الحزب وحليفته حركة أمل.

وقال وزير الإعلام بول مرقص بعد تلاوته بيان الحكومة "الجيش اللبناني سيباشر بتنفيذ الخطة، لكن وفق الإمكانات المتاحة التي هي إمكانات لوجستية ومادية وبشرية محدودة بالنهاية". وقرر مجلس الوزراء بحسب بيان الحكومة الإبقاء على مضمون الخطة "سريا".
