دان الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة "بشدة" الأحد احتجاز الحوثيين ما لا يقل عن 11 من موظفي الأمم المتحدة في اليمن، حيث ينفذون حملة اعتقالات عقب مقتل رئيس حكومتهم في قصف إسرائيلي الخميس.

وقال أنطونيو غوتيريش في بيان "أدين بشدة الاعتقالات التعسفية التي طالت 11 على الأقل من موظفي الأمم المتحدة في 31 آب/أغسطس على أيدي سلطات الأمر الواقع الحوثية في المناطق الخاضعة لسيطرتها".

ودعا إلى "الإفراج الفوري وغير المشروط" عن الموظفين، بالإضافة إلى "جميع موظفي الأمم المتحدة والمنظمات غير الحكومية الدولية والوطنية ومن المجتمع المدني والبعثات الدبلوماسية المحتجزين تعسفا".
