قال رئيس وزراء الاحتلال الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو الأحد، إن ضربة للجيش استهدفت "أبو عبيدة" الناطق باسم كتائب القسام الجناح العسكري لحركة حماس في غزة.

وأضاف نتنياهو في بيان صادر عن مكتبه بعد الاجتماع الأسبوعي للحكومة إن جهاز الشاباك (الأمن الداخلي) والجيش شنا "هجومًا على المتحدث باسم حماس... "أبو عبيدة". نحن لا نعلم النتيجة النهائية حتى الآن، وآمل ألا يكون بيننا بعد الآن".

وزير جيش الاحتلال الإسرائيلي يسرائيل كاتس، أكد أيضا "مقتل" أبو عبيدة، في عملية مشتركة نفذها الجيش وجهاز المخابرات الداخلي (الشاباك) في قطاع غزة يوم الجمعة.
