حذرت روسيا الجمعة من أنّ إعادة فرض العقوبات على إيران قد تؤدي إلى "عواقب لا يمكن إصلاحها"، وذلك بعدما قامت بريطانيا وفرنسا وألمانيا بتفعيل "آلية الزناد" ضد طهران، بسبب عدم وفائها بالتزاماتها بموجب الاتفاق النووي المبرم في العام 2015.

وقالت وزارة الخارجية الروسية في بيان "نحثّهم بشدّة على إعادة النظر ومراجعة قراراتهم الخاطئة قبل أن تؤدي إلى عواقب لا يمكن إصلاحها ومأساة أخرى"، متهمة الدول الأوروبية الثلاث بتقويض الجهود الدبلوماسية لإيجاد حل سلمي للمواجهة بشأن البرنامج النووي الإيراني.
