أعلنت وزارة الصحة الفلسطينية في قطاع غزة، الاثنين، عن تسجيل 11 حالة وفاة جديدة نتيجة المجاعة وسوء التغذية، من بينهم طفلان خلال الـ 24 ساعة الماضية.

وأشارت الوزارة إلى أن العدد الإجمالي لضحايا المجاعة وسوء التغذية ارتفع إلى 300 شهيد، من بينهم 117 طفلًا.

وكان المفوض العام للهيئة المستقلة لحقوق الإنسان في فلسطين، عصام العاروري، حذر في وقت سابق من أن خطر الموت جوعاً يهدد 132 ألف طفل خلال الأشهر الثلاثة المقبلة ما لم يتم وقف إطلاق النار، وإدخال المساعدات بشكل عاجل.

فيما دعا مدير تحليل الأمن الغذائي والتغذية، في برنامج الأغذية العالمي، التابع للأمم المتحدة جان مارتن باور، إلى اتخاذ إجراءات عاجلة حيال تفشي المجاعة في قطاع غزة، مشيرا إلى أن هذه المرة الأولى التي تُؤكّد فيها مجاعة في الشرق الأوسط.
