أعلن وكيل الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة للشؤون الإنسانية توم فليتشر الجمعة أن المجاعة في غزة ينبغي أن "تؤرقنا جميعا"، وكان من الممكن تفاديها بالكامل لو لم تمنع الأمم المتحدة "بشكل ممنهج" من إدخال المساعدات الغذائية.

وصرّح فليتشر في إحاطة إعلامية في جنيف "هي مجاعة كان من الممكن تفاديها لو تسنّى لنا القيام بذلك. غير أن المساعدات الغذائية تتكدّس عند الحدود بسبب العرقلة الممنهجة الممارسة من إسرائيل"، معتبرا أن هذه المجاعة "ينبغي أن تؤرقنا جميعا".

وأضاف "إنها لحظة عار جماعي، وأعتقد أننا جميعنا نشعر بهذا بشكل من الأشكال".
