في ظل المعاناة المتفاقمة في قطاع غزة، طالب دبلوماسي ألماني سابق الحكومة الألمانية بالاعتراف بدولة فلسطينية.

وكتب الرئيس السابق لمؤتمر ميونخ الدولي للأمن، كريستوف هويسغن، في مقال لصحف شبكة "دويتشلاند" الألمانية الإعلامية: "سيُنظَر إلى هذا القرار عالميا على أنه لفتة قوية، لأن ألمانيا تُعتبر بحق صديق مخلص لإسرائيل".

وأضاف هويسغن، الذي كان لسنوات طويلة مستشارا للمستشارة السابقة أنغيلا ميركل أن هذه الخطوة لن تُغير الوضع على المدى القريب، لكنها ستكون إشارة تضامن قوية مع الشعب الفلسطيني، "إذا انضممنا إلى غالبية الدول".
