قال مركز التحذير من تسونامي في المحيط الهادي إنه لا تهديد بحدوث موجات مد عاتية "تسونامي" بعد زلزال بقوة 7.5 درجة على مقياس ريختر ضرب ممر دريك بين أميركا الجنوبية والقارة القطبية الجنوبية أمس الخميس.

وجاء ذلك في أعقاب تحذير وجيز أصدره المركز للمناطق الساحلية في تشيلي.

وكانت هيئة المسح الجيولوجي الأميركية قد ذكرت في البداية أن الزلزال بلغت قوته 8 درجات لكنها خفضت درجته لاحقا، وقالت إنه كان على عمق 11 كيلومترا.
