حذر مسؤول كبير في الأمم المتحدة الأحد من أن خطة اسرائيل للسيطرة على مدينة غزة قد تتسبب ب"كارثة جديدة" مع تداعيات تتجاوز القطاع المحاصر والمدمّر.

وقال مساعد الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة ميروسلاف جينكا أمام مجلس الامن الدولي "إذا تم تنفيذ هذه الخطط، فقد تؤدي الى كارثة جديدة في غزة، تتردد أصداؤها في أنحاء المنطقة، وتتسبب بمزيد من النزوح القسري وعمليات القتل والدمار".

وأكد رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي بنيامين نتنياهو، الأحد، أن الخطة التي أقرها المجلس الأمني للسيطرة على مدينة غزة تمثل "أفضل وسيلة لإنهاء الحرب" في قطاع غزة.

وقال نتنياهو خلال مؤتمر صحفي في القدس المحتلة "هذه هي أفضل وسيلة لإنهاء الحرب، وأفضل وسيلة لإنهائها بسرعة"، متوقعا الانتهاء من خطة الهجوم الجديدة على غزة "سريعا إلى حد ما".
