لقي 20 فلسطينيا على الأقل حتفهم وأصيب العشرات بجروح، في ساعة متأخرة من ليل الثلاثاء/الأربعاء، جراء انقلاب شاحنة تحمل مساعدات غذائية في مدينة دير البلح وسط قطاع غزة، بحسب ما أفادت مصادر طبية فلسطينية.

وذكرت المصادر أن الحادث وقع أثناء محاولة حشود من السكان الوصول إلى شاحنة مساعدات كانت تسلك طريقا غير مهيأ، ما أدى إلى انقلابها وسط تجمعات المدنيين.

وقالت المصادر إن معظم الضحايا من سكان المناطق المتضررة الذين يعانون من انعدام الأمن الغذائي الشديد، وقتلوا خلال انتظارهم للحصول على مساعدات من الشاحنات.

وشهد قطاع غزة سلسلة من الحوادث المماثلة في الأشهر الأخيرة، أسفرت عن مقتل وإصابة مئات الأشخاص خلال محاولات الحصول على الغذاء، وسط ما تصفه منظمات إنسانية بأوضاع "كارثية وغير مسبوقة".
