قال وزير الخارجية الإيطالي أنتونيو تاياني في روما الجمعة "لم يعد بإمكاننا القبول بالمجازر والمجاعة" في قطاع غزة، لكنه رفض في الوقت نفسه الاعتراف بدولة فلسطين في هذه المرحلة، كما تعتزم فرنسا أن تفعل.

وأضاف خلال افتتاح المجلس الوطني لحزبه المحافظ "فورتسا إيطاليا"، "إيطاليا تدعم حل الدولتين ... لكن الاعتراف بدولة فلسطين يجب أن يتم في الوقت نفسه الذي يعترفون فيه بدولة إسرائيل"، ما أثار انتقادات المعارضة.

وأضاف "لقد حان الوقت للتوصل إلى وقف فوري لإطلاق النار" مشيرا إلى أن إيطاليا "صديقة لإسرائيل".
