دعا أكثر من 100 نائب في البرلمان البريطاني، من مختلف الأحزاب السياسية، رئيس الوزراء كير ستارمر بالاعتراف الفوري بدولة فلسطينية، في رسالة نظّمتها النائبة العمالية سارة تشامبيون، رئيسة لجنة التنمية الدولية في البرلمان.

وجاء في الرسالة، التي تداولت وسائل الإعلام البريطانية مضمونها، اليوم الجمعة، أن "الاعتراف البريطاني بدولة فلسطينية سيكون له أثر بالغ نظراً لدور بريطانيا في إعلان وعد بلفور وكونها السلطة المنتدبة السابقة على فلسطين".

وأضافت الرسالة، أن "بريطانيا دعمت حل الدولتين منذ عام 1980، والاعتراف سيُعطي لهذا الموقف مضمونه الحقيقي ويجسّد مسؤولية بريطانيا التاريخية".
