دعا البابا ليو بابا الفاتيكان، الأحد، إلى وضع حد "لوحشية الحرب" معبرا عن ألمه العميق إزاء الغارة الإسرائيلية على الكنيسة الكاثوليكية الوحيدة في غزة.

واُستشهد 3 أشخاص وأصيب آخرون، منهم كاهن الرعية، في الهجوم على مجمع كنيسة العائلة المقدسة في مدينة غزة يوم الخميس.

وقال البابا "أناشد المجتمع الدولي بمراعاة القانون الإنساني واحترام الالتزام بحماية المدنيين، ومنع العقاب الجماعي والاستخدام العشوائي للقوة والتهجير القسري للسكان".
