أنقذت فرق الطوارئ اليونانية أكثر من 500 مهاجر كانوا على متن سفينة صيد جنوب جزيرة جافدوس جنوبي البلاد، وفق ما أعلنته السلطات.

وأفادت صحيفة "إيكاتيميريني" اليونانية بأن مركز تنسيق الإنقاذ المشترك التابع لخفر السواحل اليوناني قام بتنسيق العملية صباح اليم الأربعاء والتي شاركت فيها سفينة دورية بحرية وسفينة شحن ترفع علم جزر البهاما وطائرتان تابعتان لوكالة "فرونتكس" الأوروبية لمراقبة الحدود وأربع سفن عابرة.

وتم نقل المهاجرين بسلام إلى ميناء سفاكيا في جزيرة كريت.

وأشارت السلطات إلى أن ما يقرب من 2000 شخص وصلوا إلى كريت وجافدوس خلال الفترة منذ ظهر الجمعة وظهر أمس الثلاثاء، في ظل زيادة حادة في أعداد المهاجرين القادمين من ليبيا.
