اتهم البيت الابيض الخميس آية الله علي خامنئي بمحاولة "حفظ ماء وجهه" بعد أن قلل المرشد الأعلى للجمهورية الإسلامية من تأثير الضربات الأميركية على منشآت إيران النووية.

وقالت المتحدثة باسم البيت الابيض كارولاين ليفيت خلال إحاطة صحافية بعد أول ظهور لخامنئي منذ الضربات العسكرية الأميركية: "شاهدنا فيديو آية الله، وعندما يكون لديك نظام شمولي، عليك أن تحافظ على ماء الوجه".
