قامت الهيئة العامة للعناية بشؤون المسجد الحرام والمسجد النبوي اليوم الخميس، بتغيير كسوة الكعبة المشرفة، كما جرت العادة السنوية، في إرث متواصل من العناية يمتد لـ 100 عام، وذلك من خلال فريق عمل من مجمع الملك عبد العزيز لكسوة الكعبة المشرفة يبلغ عدده (154) من الكوادر الوطنية السعودية يقومون بتنفيذ عملية التغيير، وموزعين على جوانب وسطح الكعبة المشرفة حسب الاختصاص.

وجرى تركيب الكسوة الجديدة التي يبلغ وزنها (1415) كيلو جرامًا، وارتفاعها (14) مترًا، والمكونة من أربعة جوانب مفرقة وستارة الباب، وفق ما أوردت وكالة الأنباء السعودية.

وتستهلك الكسوة نحو (825) كيلو جرامًا من الحرير الخام الذي صُبغ داخل المجمع باللون الأسود، و (120) كيلو جرامًا من أسلاك الفضة المطلية بالذهب، و(60) كيلو جرامًا من أسلاك الفضة الخالصة و(410) كيلو جرامات من القطن الخام.
