بدأ حجاج بيت الله الحرام بعد غروب شمس اليوم الخميس، التاسع من ذي الحجة، بالنفرة إلى مشعر مزدلفة، بعد الوقوف على صعيد عرفات.

ويؤدي ضيوف الرحمن عقب وصولهم إلى مزدلفة صلاتي المغرب والعشاء جمع تأخير اقتداءً بسنة المصطفى صلى الله عليه وسلم، ويلتقطون بعدها الجمار، ويبيتون هذه الليلة في مزدلفة، ثم يتوجهون إلى منى بعد صلاة فجر يوم غدٍ عيد الأضحى لرمي جمرة العقبة ونحر الهدي.

وتعد النفرة من عرفات إلى مزدلفة المرحلة الثالثة من مراحل تنقلات حجاج بيت الله الحرام في المشاعر المقدسة لأداء مناسك الحج.
